where do you buy cheap diet sodas?
Question:
Aldi’s. SaltyJ
Response:
Our local Safeway carries nearly all of its own brand ("Safeway Select") sodas as both regular and diet. The only one they don’t seem to copy is Fresca – which of course is my favourite. Generally speaking the generic brands are as good as brand names. In fact one Canadian company (Cott) has built a large market share by producing generic sodas that taste better than the "real thing". In some places these are sold under the "President’s Choice" lable. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -I have found myself clinging to diet sodas on my diet. its the way I treat myself and I can drink tons of the stuff. what I have found though is its expensive like 1.49 per 2 liter at the local store for diet sodas so I want to buy some in bulk but don’t know where to look. I don’t care about brand names and noticed many companies have generic alternatives to the popular sodas like cola, root beer, creme soda, dr. pepper, mt. dew, etc. BUT what I haven’t seen is much diet alternatives to these except cola and lemon lime. So I was just wondering for those that care about cost and drink diet soda where do you shop to get the best deals for 2 liter bottles of the stuff? I know safeway, sunny select, walmart and a few other big stores carry generic brands but am I wrong in thinking that besides the name brand diet sodas, generic vendors don’t cater to our market so Im really stuck buying the name brand stuff?

Response:
I’ve seen almost every variety of cheap generic pop in most of the stores where I shop… in diet, even in caffeine free diet at times. Ask at the store if you don’t see it on the shelf. I personally spend the extra $$ and buy only Diet Coke… all generic that I have found are basically Pepsi products and I don’t really like the taste of Diet Pepsi (only in a pinch). But that’s me… Good luck! – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I have found myself clinging to diet sodas on my diet. its the way I treat myself and I can drink tons of the stuff. what I have found though is its expensive like 1.49 per 2 liter at the local store for diet sodas so I want to buy some in bulk but don’t know where to look. yes, but if the poster is right that the buildup is basically caused by static electricity, then I’ll just wash the Aerochamber every day with some dishwashing liquid. Why take chances. It’s not that big an effort to keep it clean. I was just curious.
Considering the quality of many of its posts, I would strongly suggest you look for a more reliable reference. Ted

Inhaled steroids can result in localized infections with Candida albicans in the mouth and pharynx. Have it cultured and treated, then when you use your steriod inhaler rinse your mouth out after each use. Be sure to clean the canister daily. Nicole – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Help! Posted under Information Please! for the last two weeks, have gone back to my allergist after a number of years. Put me on Serevent and Flovent 110. Since that time I have developed a severe bacterial infection and am now on Cipro plus another week of 20mg of Predisone. Went to see him Friday of this last week for another lung function test and switched for the meantime to the next high dosage of Flovent until he tells me to go back to the first dosage subscribed. Finally, am getting rid of the asthma sound and mucus build-up from the infection. Plus, he first told me not to take my Ventolin unless I felt I needed it. When I saw him Friday, when he changed the dosage of Flovent, he asked me how oftem I was using Ventolin and said once a day. The told me I should be taking it more often with this infection. I told him he did not tell me before use it more and now I do not know the symptoms to use it more often because I do not feel the chest closure. He told me now to take it 2 puffs every 4 hours. Now that I am getting better, I have developed a very bad sore throat and my tongue feels like its on fire. If I swallow it is so sore and I have no white spots on the throat or inside of my mouth but have tiny little cheese-like particles in my mouth. Can all these medicines I am being bombarded with cause a candida yeast condition? I had a mild yeast infection before I went to the allergist, but did not associate any spreading of the condition when I was taking all this medicine. I could not reach my doctor today to talk to him. Am supposed to call him back Monday. My throat is so irritated from all this coughing from this infection. Michelle in TX

Being the "Queen Of Thrush", it sounds like that is what you have,of course the usual disclaimer (I am not a doctor….) Nystatin swish and swallow is a good start. If you still have it after that ask for Diflucan. There is also a new swish and swallow of AmphotericinB but that is when you have exhausted all other things. I’m sure that I do not have to say, rinse your mouth, blah, blah blah. Some people are just prone to thrush and you learn to deal with it. It’s pretty nasty but, brathing is better, Peace, Tish

Yes yes yes!!! this is almost identical to what i had two weeks ago. i was on flovent/serevent and antibiotics (doxycycline…destroyed my intestines. very sad. not doing those again) i got a sharp, painful sore throat, almost as if someone had cut a part of my throat with a knife. my tongue was painfully sore and had desnuded patches (the taste buds were gone) on about half, and white patches on the rest. i didn’t have any cheese particles but that seems to make it almost definite (as that’s the clear sign of a vaginal yeast infection!) i went in to the college health center and said "i’m on antibiotics and a steroid inhaler, i think i have a yeast infection in my mouth". the doctor looked it over, told me i was right, said she probably would have treated me for strep with more antibiotics if i hadn’t figured it out on my own (another reason to be super-informed…). she put me on nystatin liquid, 1 tsp 3 times a day for 5 days. it went away although i’m a bit nervous that it’s not completely gone. (last night i felt the sore thoat again for a bit…and i’ve lost the upper register of my voice…) the liquid was lovely, tasted like minty robitussin, but did the job. good luck! jodi

Are you positive it’s a yeast infection? Has the dog had them in the past and this was confirmed and treated by your vet? If not, go to the vet to be sure this is what she has. I have an old (14) lhasa who has had chronic yeast infections his entire life. If you’re sexually active, your partner(s) should be treated as well — otherwise you could be getting re-infected with each act of sex. Heck, I suppose it’s even possible that you could get a penile yeast infection from fellatio performed by someone with oral thrush. hi, after a post natale depression with some agravations (like bad relationships and such) i started taking antidepressants and found out that i felt better with them then without them. even so, i didnt take any for 7 years and started with paroxetine 4 years ago. since then i am able to have a very good relation with my lovely son, able to cope with life, lead a happy life and have a job that is on my level for the first time in my life ( i am 44!, 2 universities and several low education – low pay jobs) because of some worries about the side effects of the paroxetine i was taking, like heart palpitations, head eaches and weight gain, i consulted a psychiatrist in brazil (where i came from ) and asked him to give me some lighter stuff. so, he prescribed Ixel/ milnacipran. back in the netherlands: this is a medicine that is not registered here. i simply cannot get it here! the doctor here told me to take effexor instead. well, effexor’s nick name is " side effexor" what does not inspire me. what then? zoloft? Celexa? someone has some nice idea? and: i just started with Ixel/ milnacipran 4 days ago. i am taking it instead of paroxetine. well, i can hardly stand up because of dizzyness…. i just dont know what to do now…. txs 4 any help! claudia

Am. Hi, Effexor has mainly helped me with my depression. 3 months ago I felt terrible and today I feel more like my old self, generally feel fairly happy
) I think it has helped my anxiety a little but I still get quite anxiuos at times. I dont think that it has helped with the OCD thoughts much. Thankfully I dont get any effexor side effects now. I think I will be sticking with this AD for the time being. It would be nice to be able to take a pill that gets rid of the OCD but in my case, mostly pure OCD, I dont think this will happen. I have just got to learn to control my mind through CBT which will be quite an effort but worth it in the end. Maybe another drug to help with my nerves/anxiety/worry might be useful, I will be asking my pdoc next week. Take care Lawrence "Pola_Pink" <pola_pin…@no.spam.hotmail.com

Question:
dear elaine, hello i have had spasmodic torticollis for 14 years. i cannot say that the head tremors are worse. it occurs more frequently my muscles are stiff. and trying to hold my head still is a quest for me in public. i have trouble with burning in the back of my neck. i use a heating pad for this. i’ve taken alot of meds. valium seems to be my poison. klonopin sent me packing with a seizure.music and walking help also. been to the ie; best in the state neuros. and docs. no botox.do’nt want it . the best i have done is get educated on this mercyless ilness. i hope this helps.debbie

elaine, I have had st for a year and a half. It took three months to find it which is short compared to most. My neurologist was a movement disorder Dr. and found it in one hour. He could not tell me if it would get worse. I then went to Baylor medical center in Houston. Dr. Jankovic at the movement disorder center gave me the same answer to st. He said he could not say if it would get worse or better as everyone is different. I have tremors of the head with mine and jerky all over sometimes and he said my tremors probably would get worse. Good luck and God bless. I will say prayers for you. Loretta

Dear Elaine, My consultant neurologist just treats people with Dystonia and Parkinson’s. He has treated me with botullinum toxin for spasmodic torticollis for 8 years. His experience of patients with adult onset dystonia is that 80% continue with much the same symptoms for the long term. 10% get worse in the sense that they either develop more severe local symptoms or other muscles become affected. 10% go into full remission. By which he means an absence of symptoms for many years rather than the general ups and downs with which we are all familiar. A more likely long term problem in my experience is the increased pain that comes with the extra strain that is put on our musceloskeletal system as a side effect of coping with the neck twisting. In addition I know that some develop a resistance to the particular type of botullinum toxin with which they are being injected. I would echo the advice of others who have replied that you find a neurologist who specialises in dystonia. My experience of non-specialist neurologists is not great. If you were in the UK I could give you some names to look for. Regards, David Well at last after 6 years of asking, the GP I saw today is referring me to a neurologist, she wasn’t too familiar with Dystonia at all, but she listened to me and didn’t fob me off with "anxiety and tension". She also asked for web addresses for her own personal interest. So I’ll just need to wait see what happens next. Thanks again to all of you who replied to my first post. Just one more question, from experience what are the chances of ST worsening after between 6 – 9 years? I’ve not been as bad the past 4? Regards Elaine

HI; In my own estimate it depends on you and what you do. If you are working and that aggravates it then I would say it could get worse. Folks who have Dystonia, because of way they attempt to control muscles spasms, give the impression they suffer from anxiety and tension. I also have essential tremor. Some folks get the impressions, I suppose, that I am a nervous person but that is not the case. Fatigue and stress will make it worst, but certain foods, liquids and movements will do the same thing. If I consciously try to control it, it will get worst. Seems as if messages in the brain are mixed up. All frustrating and complex. Spasms and tremor are usually worst in the mornings. asked for web addresses for her own personal interest. So I’ll just need to wait see what happens next. ST flares up for five to six years, goes into remission on it’s own and then may come back later on. It is important that you see a neurologist who is familiar with the syndrome. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Regards Elaine

Go for the Promotion?
Question:
Hi everyone. 4 weeks off Zoloft(for Anxiety)- coping fairly well, some days really suck and others are fine. Apparently I do my current job to well or the company is desperate for help. I dunno, but I am flattered that I am being asked. My situation is this. I do not need the money ( I guess I could probably make $2. more per hour ) but Christmas is coming – It would help out (If I can stand to shop long enough – I hate the hustle and bustle) I consider myself fairly intellegent and enjoy doing my job well and having people notice. I do want to be challenged mentally as well as with the anxiety. I do want to "HELP" my struggling boss trying to do 2 + jobs. But: I do not want to supervise a bunch of whining brats. I do not to run around the office like my hair is on fire. I do want to sleep at nite. I tend to (Process) things in my head over and over. I have a week to decide. My main concern is my mental health – I don’t want to stir up anything- but yet I don’t know if just taking the EASIER way – Is the best way to go through the rest of my life. (I’m 31) I guess I feel somewhat obligated to try this out (after all "they think pretty highly of me")- the Supervisor said I could return to my current position if I want to -but could I look him in the eye and ask to be demoted? He probably would talk me out of it just as he is trying to talk me into it. I know that none of you know me or the company I work for- but what do you think? Bonnie Before you buy.

Glad to hear you’re doing well off med,and at your job, BUT give it a lot of thought before you take the promotion. I got the shaft recently with a co. who loved me, bragged about me, put me in charge of buying as well as asst. mngr, but, then when I got ill they didn’t want me, harrassed me, lied about me, etc. It’s much better to be loved where you are than to be treated so poorly. My last job before this one, demoted me for getting ill and missing to much hard long hours, and the only satisfaction is knowing you did your best, and whatever makes us ill, we don;t ask for. Mine was asthma, no mental problem at that time. Anyway -Good Luck in your future, and with love and concern I will pray whatever decesion you make that God helps you to make the right one. We are each diff. LOL Charisma

Only you can decide whether or not you should go for it. I think it is great that your boss would allow you to go back to your old position if need be. I wish you much luck in whatever you decide!! Take care. Jackie ~*~You may be deceived if you trust too much, but you will live in torment if

Hi, bonnie, Pat yourself on the back for me – it is a tremendous feeling to be noticed and given the chance for a promotion. About ten years ago I was in the same situation and it made me feel wonderful. but for many reasons, one being anxiety, I didn’t accept and to this day I know I made the right decision. Absolutely love my job and wouldn’t give it up unless I had to. Not many people are this fortunate to love their jobs but when you have one you do enjoy it makes going to work much easier. good luck on your decision making and please let us know wht you decide. smiles, elise

What do you mean – you took them together? Do you mean that you usually split your dosage up but instead took the full dosage? I don’t think and I hope that you did not mean that you took the Zoloft that you didn’t take for the few days. Well I am not an expert on this but I do take Zoloft and have been for about five years. I was told by my doctor that I could separate my dosage or take it all at once it was entirely up to me. I know that side effects for Zoloft have been documented up to 200mg and with that dosage you will experience more side effects. What you are describing is common side effects for people on that dosage. I am assuming that if you have not taken your Zoloft for a few days that your blood levels are very low and that is why you are experiencing side effects now. My Zoloft was just upped from 100 to 150mg and I experienced the same side effects you are describing for about a week. You should direct your question to Margrove as I am sure he will be able to give you a more accurate and reliable answer. Actually, a lot of your problem is your browser. Sure, people should be careful not to splinter threads, but a good browser will put most of that back where it goes. I see that you use Netscape3.01 Gold and Windows 95. Chances are that you have room on your hard drive for Agent, which will solve most of your problems. I used to get irritated at the same thing. Just to keep the record straight I didn’t suggest that the poster had a tremor problem – I said they *may* have one and also stated that it was entirely possible that it was an anxiety/PD problem as other’s have experienced this. Hi Mark: I have Essential Tremor as well as PD. This makes my hands shake a lot – stress can make it worse, as does carrying anything heavy, etc. When I’m nervous, stressed or have been doing something physical I can shake/tremble all over. I like to think of myself as a mover and a shaker! :) Has your doctor checked Essential Tremor out for you? A neurologist would be able to tell you whether there is any indication of this. There have been others on this group who have posted with similar problems also, so it is possible that it is a PD symptom. Feel free to email me if you have more questions. Mally

Hi Mark, I’ve experienced the same problem. I used to work in a restaurant, and I would shake or worry about shaking when I was carrying things to a table. Also, I have difficulty signing in public – my signature looks worse than usual because I shake. A method I use to alleviate this is replace the "what if" (as in what if I shake) with "so what". This sometimes helps with other "what if" situations. Hope this helps. Or at least maybe it’ll help to know that you’re not the only one who has experienced this. Peace, Don Ganton
