Question:
After reading your post on the allergy group a while back I tried adding a couple ml of hydrogen peroxide to a half bottle of Ocean salt water spray. This worked fine and seemed to really help. However after I ran out of this bottle and mixed up a batch myself, I either added too much hydrogen peroxide or my sinus infection was already well established as the second bottle seemed to irritate my already inflamed sinuses. I’ll try again with a weaker formulation after my sinuses heal. Thanks for the suggestions. — "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism" Thomas Jefferson "CanDo" <rasm1…@bellsouth.net

If you believe that the decomposition of h2o2 produces free radicals and you believe that free radicals can cause cancer then you may be inclined to believe that cancer could be a long term effect. I certainly wouldn’t take a chance being so close to the brain.

3% Hydrogen Peroxide has been used for decades by millions of people, for cuts and for gargling, to prevent infection and to help remove mucus and phlegm. It is readily available at most super markets, discount stores, retail stores, etc. There are no health warnings on the bottles. If you feel that it is a cancer risk, you should get in touch with the proper authorities and warn them.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Yes, I was looking for more scientific feedback, but also for use on longer term use than 30 months. With all the research I do, I’ve not been able to find anything substantive.

Hydrogen peroxide can’t be too awfully toxic. I used to got to an alt. med MD who also did IV chelation therapy and I saw many patients in his office do large IV drips of hydrogen peroxide solution and this wasn’t the 3% variety. I think they were doing the IVs to protect their heart. I can’t remember the specific rational because it’s been 10 years or so. I’m sure a Google search would tell you whatever their theory was behind ingesting hydrogen peroxide. I remember some of the patients also drank hydrogen peroxide. — "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism" Thomas Jefferson "NorthShoreCEO" <NorthShore…@aol.com

Before western culture learned of it, 3,000 years ago the Yoga did rapid in and out sniffing of saline. They did it very rapidly at a low pressure. Which, essentially is what the Hydro Pulse does . This rapid in and out did stimulate cilia and did remove dust and pollen. Try to teach this today ! good luck. Most patients this gentle low pressure means about 70 PSI which will damage the nose. I’ve had horrible allergies my entire life. I currently treat them with Flonase, Astelin, Nasal Crom, Singulair and whatever else is necessary. I’ve also taken desensitization shots several times and taken enough allergy pills to fill a 55 gallon drum. Once any of my sinuses or eustachen tubes clogs securely, an infection won’t be far behind. I don’t even remember large portions of junior high because I was so zoned out on various allergy pills or sick with repeated sinus infections. My problem with sinus infections is that I probably wait much too long before beginning antibiotics and the infections are usually well advanced. What did people do for chronic severe sinus infections prior to the availability
of
antibiotics? IIRC: nasal irrigation and surgery. Pretty much what they do now! The first diagnoses of chronic maxillary sinus infections were first made around the 17th century. And over time, better and better surgical procedures were devised. (The Caldwell-Luc surgical procedure, for many years the state-of-the-art in sinus surgery, was invented in the late 19th century.) In the 18th century, doctors realized that some sinus infections were caused by dental abscesses and could be helped by extractions of the upper molars. Nasal irrigation was employed for the first time in the 18th century too. I remember seeing a couple of pictures of the elaborate mechanical apparatuses they used for nasal irrigation, before the invention of electric irrigators. One of them was a big tank that was fastened high on the wall, way above your head. You put the hose into your nose, turned the crank, and gravity and siphoning pulled the water down into your nose and thru your nasopharynx. — Steven L.
I use saline nasal spray 4-6 times a day. It seems to help. Having nasal surgery scares the poop out of me as a friend went into the local hospital as an outpatient to clear a minor nasal blockage and immediately came down with incurable MRSA and also strep in his sinuses. He had to have repeated major surgeries to try and cure the infection. The infections and related pain eventually cost him his job and career. I’d probably have to be fighting a malignancy before I’d risk surgery, but if I further lost my ability to breathe, I might change my mind. Thanks for the medical history lessons and suggestions. spam2death

Have you seen an ENT? If so, what did he say?

You might find that irrigation works better than spray. I use the Grossan irrigator religiously. It works better for me than any nasal spray.

Hmm, this is a new one for me. What the heck is "incurable MRSA?" Was this one of those brand-new strains of MRSA that’s even resistant to vancomycin? Not all hospitals are as careless as the one you describe. Many of us have had sinus surgery and we didn’t get MRSA. But we didn’t go to just any surgeon and just any hospital. We chose carefully. — Steven L.

I’ve flooding my sinuses with a mixture of Hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and kosher salt for about 30 months, an average of less than twice a month. Total flooding time averages about 15 minutes. After decades of sinus misery, my sinuses have never been better. I’ve also use electro-acupuncture to treat my sinuses, and watch my diet, and I have made changes to my environment, so I can’t attribute my good sinus health to just the flooding. So far, I have not had any bad effects from the contact of the peroxide with my sinuses. I know that you are looking for more scientific feedback, or feedback from the medical community, but I figured I’d offer my personal experience. ===

When I’ve used too much peroxide, it has caused my sinuses to swell shut for about three straight days. I am careful not to use more than one part peroxide to 10 parts water. Even that much used to sting my sinuses, but not any more. If the powerful anti-infective mixture of peroxide, baking soda and kosher salt can get to the source of infection, or infected material, then it can fight the infection and help to prevent recurring infections. If it can’t get to the source of the infection, then the benefits are limited. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -

I have been taking Serzone for at least 3 months. Before that i took Zoloft very briefly. I had a lot of side effects on Zoloft. Started out on 50mg of Serzone now at 300mg. I havnt noticed any strong reaction one way or another. No real bad side effects and no real help for sp. No weight gain. I think I have been feeling alittle less anxious- like I dont care as much what people think. I do feel alittle tired during the day tho but I cant say for sure its because of that. My therapist recommends I go a higher dose -she thinks I will feel more of an affect then. We shall see. Renee

From: zkwyed1 zkwyed1NOzkS…@yahoo.co I’ve been taking Serzone for about two months now. Before that I had taken Wellbutrin for about two months. On the Wellbutrin I was having a lot of trouble sleeping and problems with trembling and feeling on edge, not to mention it didn’t help with anxiety much. So I switched to Serzone which helps sleeping a lot, in fact one of the problems I had the first couple of weeks was that I could hardly wake up. I could shut of my alarm after eight hours of sleep and still sleep for hours after that… my bed would just call to me with some sort of siren song thing…
LOL. I know that feeling. I’ve been taking it 2 weeks now and I still have a hard time waking up. I’m hoping that will pass. Today (Saturday) I slept till 10:00 am ! I haven’t done that in a long time. I am feeling very sluggish tho. and I’m really hoping that will go away.
That was the only problem I had with weight gain, I felt like a giant slug and didn’t want to move much. It has gotten a lot better in that regard. In fact, I would say that if you’re someone with anxiety, Serzone doesn’t add the tense jittery feeling that Wellbutrin seemed to for me. That is definitely only my opinion.
I don’t feel the least bit jittery on this med : ) I didn’t understand about the weight gain, did you gain weight on this med?? I’m asking because my doc told me I would gain weight on this one. (that’s what they all say, huh)

I too went from Remeron to Serzone but for different reasons. The first couple of months on Serzone I couldn’t stand the sight of food. That’s the good part. The bad part was that it made me very nervous and irritable. I stuck it out and by month 3 I was feeling pretty good and the sp was tolerable. Unfortunatly I also got my appetite back (w/o weight gain) Sad to say I developed a serious side effect after 6 months and had to quit taking it. So it’s back to hit and miss with the meds again. Self-injury with knives and razors. I would cut on myself when I was depressed, before I got on the right medications. I’m ashamed of it, I still have scars, but I have a great therapist that’s helping me understand why I did that. -Emily

hi Emily. this is interesting! did you see yourself at all becoming tolerant to the stimulants? If so, did effexor help with this? also, I have anxiety which mostly manifests as stomach pain (nausea/butterflies). did you get this too? Did the drug combo you’re on help? thanks!! – Jason Web Page: http://www.JasonsWeb.com "Quantum Physics: The dreams that makes up stuff"

Our psychiatrist says that Jesse shouldn’t worry about taking Adderall or Ritalin in eves, as once the brain waves are working correctly sleep should come MORE easily. This isn’t true for all patients, but works for many. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Hi, I thought that I would post this and see if anyone else has noticed anything like this. In addition to having ADD, I have clinical depression and severe anxiety. I found that Adderall was like a miracle for my anxiety, because it took away so many of the racing thoughts and ruminations in my head. However, my most difficult time has always been at night. I used to have panic attacks so badly that I would hyperventilate and faint. Well, even though Adderall seems to be the best med. for this, I was told that I couldn’t take it at night, as it might interfere with the onset of sleep. So, my psychiatrist added Xanax for nighttime. Well, even though it seemed to help the anxiety, it actually kept me awake instead of putting me to sleep. It also made me severely depressed and apathetic, to the point where I began to self-injure; something that I hadn’t done for a long, long time. Needless to say, I went right off of it. Anyway, several weeks ago, my psychiatrist put me on the anti-depressant Effexor, saying that it would help with my ADD and anxiety, as well as the depression. Because it acts on norepinepherine as well as serotonin, it’s a good adjunct to stimulants in ADD/ADHD people. Anyways, it has been amazing! After only a week of taking Effexor XR 75mg/day(in the morning), my nighttime anxiety was nearly gone! I also noticed that I didn’t get nearly as irritable when my Adderall wore off in the evening. I used to hate the dropoff that I noticed with my stimulant, and now I can hardly detect it. It just feels like the Effexor has smoothed out my day. I don’t have the peaks and valleys that I had while I was just on Adderall. I am feeling a lot more even. I just thought I would see if anyone else has had an experience with Effexor and ADD. Ciao! -Emily

Effexor has helped many people with ADD+anxiety. I found it helpful until an unusual side effect stopped me from using it. I think I know a little about the razor thing. When I was in high school I had a problem with an ingrown tow nail. The school doc did a painful hack job and the toe eventually got worse. I figured that I could do better without anaesthetic than he did with it. I got out a new razor blade and started cutting carefully. It was a little bloody, but I felt little pain and a sense of quiet calm. It was strangely soothing. I cleaned up the problem. The toe got better and I haven’t had any problems with it since. There’s no need to be ashamed. The cutting was a way of self-treating the anxiety. Effexor is a much better way. You are making progress. George Self-injury with knives and razors. Before you buy.

Hi there! This is great feedback to be getting! I was diagnosed with ADD comorbid with depression five years ago, and got every book on the subject I could find. I joined a support group too. Everything was starting to work out. But because I didn’t have insurance at my job, it was also very expensive. The doctor, plus the counselor, plus the liver tests for the Cylert, plus the cost of the Cylert was forcing me to pay nearly $500 a month out of my pocket. I couldn’t afford it anymore so I quit. Well finally, being very depressed and still ADD, I went to see another psychiatrist that works on a sliding scale. She decided I didn’t have ADD at all because "adults don’t have ADD." She told me that when adults think they have ADD it’s really just Bipolar II. So she put me on lithium. I thought she was wrong but gave her the benefit of the doubt. I tried lithium for a couple of months. It did nothing for me at all. So I gave up on it and went to see a psychiatrist who was more expensive. But by this time I had insurance and could afford him. He told me that I was definitely depressed, that the Bipolar II diagnosis was ludicrous, and that he wasn’t sure about the ADD. He wanted to wait a while to see if ADD is really there and not just depression masquerading as ADD. He put me on Effexor. I got to tell you, the stuff is a miracle drug for me! When I’m on the Effexor, I feel like a totally different person. I feel happier, my thinking is less gloomy and dark. I’m less irritable, and more sociable. But without it, I’m deeply depressed. But the ADD symptoms never really went away. I still have the attention-holding and short-term memory problems. I still can’t read a book with out flying off with a million new ideas. I still get easily distracted, even by my own thoughts. And I still have trouble finishing things. The doctor decided that I am indeed ADD, and now he wants to try me out on Adderal. I pick up the prescription this afternoon. Your feedback is invaluable, and thanks. I hope it works as well for me as it has for you. <snipped I’m curious as to what was the "unusual side effect" that caused you to stop taking Effexor? (I’m curious only because I too get an unusual [and annoying] side effect from my Effexor [which, btw, has been added to my Dexedrine, with positive results for my attention deficit]; a side effect that has me wishing there was something equivalent out there that could provide me with the same benefits as Effexor, but without this one distractingly uncomfortable side effect.) Response:
I take Effexor for different reasons then you but I’m curious about the side effects you are taking about. I started to take Effexor because of depression due to the M.S.. The one thing I liked about the drug was the lack of side effects. So I’m real curious to find out about the side effects you have. They might be caused by the combo of the meds your currently on. Take care! — Annie

Effexor can cause elevated high blood pressure and possible sedation. These were the reasons I quit taking it two weeks ago, and went back to Prozac – for the additional pep, and also because I stated taking stronger stims which also elevate BP. Could either of these be the unusual side effect? John Got questions? Get answers over the phone at Keen.com. Up to 100 minutes free! http://www.keen.com

Self injure?? Like what, if I may ask? Ciao! -Emily

Of coarse getting everyone panicked, we were off to the hospital which was fifteen minutes away. I didn’t think i was going to make it. We arrived at the Hospital and they admitted me immediately and ran an ekg, and took blood, even a cardiologist came and took blood. While waiting for my results the doctor thought that I was just having an axiety attack (yeah right I thought) he later confirmed that it was indeed a axiety attack and that I was hyperventilating. (i disagreed – I did not think I was breathing out of control – I know what hyperventilating is) My carbon dioxide level and oxygen levels were high and low wich gives you that dizzy feeling. The worse that could of happened was that I passed out. He gave me a prescription and that was it – that was about 5 months ago. 3. I just had my third axiety attack while out was friends on Saturday….once again happy to be alive and still wonder if my doctor is correct – am I really having axiety attacks or am I having heart problems and because I’m only 31 he won’t pursue more detailed testing. Hi Tracy, welcome to our NG!! You are definitely not alone, everyone here is battling against an anxiety disorder of some sort. I myself experienced symptoms which mirror those you have described. I thought I had some sort of heart dysfunction or defect that was going to kill me at any instant. I woke up in the night with it, delt with it in social situations and when I was alone…it really was terrifying. After a complete physical and cardiac examination (by the head of the cardiology dept. in the largest hospital in my province) nothing could be found…I was only 21 yrs old. Well, three years later here I am, alive!!! The only thing is that I am trying to live with Panic Disorder!!! My medication allows me to live a fairly normal life, despite the occasional unexplained anxiety, which I guess is normal. Good luck to you and try to participate in the group I have found it very beneficial!!! all the best jason – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hi! What you desecribe is the classic beginning of Panic Disorder. Yes, you have panic attacks. The thing to do is see a psychiatrist who is specialized in anxiety disorders (is there a university clinic in your area? often a good bet), get properly diagnosed and prescribed some meds. Hi. I am also a new comer to this group. Let me tell you a little about what I have gone through. After my daughter (I was 25 ) was born 23 years ago I started to feel the same way you did, losing my breath, feeling very weird like I was losing my mind and completely out of contro. So I also went to the doctor and he told me I was having a panic attack and maybe I needed to take some time off work. I did but the panic attacks were still happening. I got to a point where I didn’t want to go anywhere (and that is not me I love to go out and have fun). So after going to the doctor a million times and to the emergency room because I thought I was having a heart attack or I had some other life threatening disease, I finally read some books and told myself I tired of this and I want it to stop. So with the help of medication called Tranxene and a lot of hard work on my part I finally felt better. It took me a long time. Now 20 years later my attacks have come back. (I’m trying to keep this short) I think the reason is this. A year and half ago my husband at 46 suffered a massive heart attack. He is doing fine, but it was the worst thing I have ever gone through. I held up pretty well until 6 months later. I started driving to work, my hands and feet got clammy I started to get that weird feeling of losing control and burst into tears. I was so scared to drive. I finally called my boss and had him drive me to the doctor. It was the same thing panic attack!! He put me on Tranxene (I am not a very good pill taker). I have been on it since last May. I stopped taking it about 2 weeks ago and just 3 days ago I started those feelings. So I am going to take it regularly and get myself back on track. I have been to a shrink and I got nothing out of it. I have found that having someone to talk to and keeping myself busy helps. The problem with me is I worry about everyone and think I can fix the world. I have been where you are and I know you will be ok. It’s just so frightening. I hope I have helped you in some way and if you every want to talk more e-mail me. Nothing like this was every available when I first started my panic attacks and being able to talk to someone and knowing they have felt the same way you have does help. I wish you the best and do know you are ok. I have to remember to think positive.. Take care…

I guess I can start off by saying what I have experienced & go from there. I’ll try to keep it short. About a year ago while driving to work (at night, I work midnights) I started losing my breath, feeling very wierd, my arms were going numb, thoughts of wanting to kill myself (which is definately not me!!) i thought i was having a heart attack (I’m 39 now) I made it to work but was to shakey i couldnt cope, went home but was just dazed & confused. I went to my doctor & she said i had a panic attack. I had one similar several days afterwards but wasnt as bad and i tried hard to control myself, after all both times I was driving!! So that was it, back to the doctor & have been on 50mg of Zoloft since. Now I was supposed to start weening off the zoloft this month & what happens, I have one of these attacks at work. So now i’m still on it. I am going to go see a shrink I guess, i dont want it to get worse, I’m getting to the point where I am almost scared of driving & going to work. I feel very strongly that it is my midnight shift that is doing this to me, because I cant think of anything else that it could be. Is there anyone else out there that works nights that is going through this?? The zoloft is good though & i have been very reassured that it is a safe drug to stay on for many years if needed, but i would like to get off it. If anyone has taken the time to read my long storey get back to me with your storey or thoughts I would appreciate it. Thanks & think positive!!!
Hi Frank, Welcome to ASAP! A panic attack can be a very individual thing. Your attack does sound like a Panic attack. Mine are different, I get very hot, flushed, dizzy, off-balance, shaky, can`t concentrate and tingling sensations in my fingers. I think I either am going to die or go crazy. I think you should see a Pdoc, one that is knowledgeable in anxiety disorders. CBT therapy is a very good compliment with medication. You might want to give serious thought to increasing your Zoloft dose. You are on a very low therapeutic dose, and you are experiencing alot of discomfort still. You might want to get a script for a benzo to be used on a "as needed" basis. Doing CBT, increasing your Zoloft and getting a benzo, could really get you back on your feet again. Yes, you can stay on Zoloft for a long time. About getting off meds, first you need to get better and be better for awhile, before you think of getting off meds. Some of us need meds for the rest of our lives, others need it on and off, depending on setbacks and remissions, and then there are some that are on meds for awhile, get off the meds, and never need them again. Unfortunately, you won`t know, until you go off I am not sure that the night shift "caused" your anxiety, although it could be a contributing factor. I use to work the graveyard shift in a nursing home, and I didn`t like the way it made me feel. It wasn`t anxiety, I just felt off. After a few months I begged to get off that shift, and I felt much better. If you can, change your hours, maybe a note from your doctor could help with that. Take Care and good luck!! Jackie

Frank, My first anxiety attack was about 5 1/2 years ago while I was driving. Like you I thought I was having a heart attack. I didn’t want to kill myself but was sure I must be dying. I had a lot of stresses in my life at that time so once I realized that it was anxiety attacks I was having I did go to a therapist. I also take Zoloft. I started at 50 mg but have decreased it to 25 mg. I have tried to wean off it several times and each time I have a panic attack. I don’t like taking meds all the time but I believe it is better than going through the feelings of panic and constant anxiety. So who knows how long I will take this stuff. I feel pretty good when I am on it. I do have times when I don’t feel as well but everyone has good and bad days whether or not they have PA’s. Do you have any particular stressful things going on in your life? Or did you when the panic attacks started? It might be a good idea to find a pdoc who specializes in anxiety who can help you to recognize possible triggers. The one thing about panic attacks is that they seem to strike "out of the blue" and that is the most frustrating part about them. Because you don’t know when you’ll have one you sometimes start to avoid situations where you had one before. (Like driving, grocery shopping, eating in a restaurant) It is a vicious (sp?) circle but you know what? You are NOT ALONE. And you will get through them. Good luck and keep us posted. Frank, Is medication the only way you are managing? Not that I am knocking it! I am using three different meds, myself. But I am also doing something that I did not do the last time I was in remission from panic. I am now making the effort to learn Cognitive Behavioral techniques. A few years ago, the med of my dreams rid me of Panic, General Anxiety and Agoraphobia for just over a year. But it did not last, I started having breakthrough attacks and didn’t have the skills that I have since gained in controlling the symptoms. Changing my thoughts, correcting my breathing, muscular relaxation and slowing my heart beat are things I have become pretty good at, but not perfect. And there are many more symptoms that I must work with. I would just like to suggest that you get yourself some long lasting coping skills before going off of your med. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy has worked for so many. Some without any meds. But I believe combining the two is very powerful. My two cents and wishing you well, Kathryn

Hi Frank, The following a criteria for panic attacks recently distributed in a brochure to Australian GPs A discrete period of intense fear or discomfort, in which four (or more) of the following symptoms developed abruptly and reached a peak within 10 minutes: palpitations, pounding heart, or accelerated heart rate sweating trembling or shaking sensations of shortness of breath or smothering feeling of choking chest pain or discomfort nausea or abdominal distress feeling dizzy, unsteady, lightheaded, or faint feelings of unreality or being detached from oneself feelings of losing control or going crazy fear of dying paraesthesia (numbness or tingling sensation) chills or hot flushes I reckon I have experienced each and every one of these! Given that your symptoms are recurring I suggest that you discuss your medication, dosage, with your doctor. It doesn’t sound like a good time to wean off. I am also experiencing a recurrence of some symptoms, in particular situations, so my medication is being reviewed. I guess where lucky that our conditions are treatable. Take care, Meryl

PLEASE don’t give up on all mood stabilizers! If your diagnosis is correct, an anti-depressant alone could trigger a manic episode. I too was left dazed and confused by lithium and others. My work as an engineer requires alot of mental concentration and use of math and sciences…stuff I had taken for granted had become increasingly difficult, even the simplest tasks! I now take Lamictal (300mg) and Effexor(75mg) with Klonepin(.5mg) for sleep. Welbutrin made me near-anorexic (the very smell of food made me gag) and the closest to suicidal that I have ever been! I literally had to beg my pdoc to switch me back to Effexor…he kept increasing Welbutrin despite my insistance that it was not working for me…because, he said, it is a "very good" drug. Well, there are no good drugs/ bad drugs, just ones that work better or worse for an individual! Too often pdocs loose site of the patient sitting before them. Good luck with whatever you decide, but I’d consider Lamictal if you haven’t already tried it. Desiree’

Hey there! Today I decided I wasn’t going to be a victim anymore and feel bad anymore from meds so I could keep a job and have no excuses for excessive absences. I think I have been misdiagnosed as BPII. I think I suffer from chronic depression and anxiety just like everyone else in my immediate and extended family. Right now I am depressed, but anyone would be after losing their job AGAIN and this time out of the blue after buying a 2 unit house. That kind of depression there are no pills for you just get through it and move on. I have stopped taking my tegretol, but keeping my klonopin and periactin so I can sleep at night for now. Seeing my pdoc tomorrow, telling her about my decision and asking for her support to manage my anxiety and sleeping. I also want her to think about what anit-depressant I may need to use in the future. Wellbutrin sounds good especially since I have had such a lack of energy and brain power since I’ve been on mood stabilizers. I hate them because they slowed my brain down and I couldn’t think or do complex tasks or remember anything. I couldn’t do math or find words or spell. I used to be so with it. I hope now I can get better, think better, work better, love better and live better. I am going to enjoy life!!!!!! I am going to feel happy for the first time in 8 years. Wish me luck! I started on Wellbutrin about a week ago (oops, that reminds me: I forgot to take my pill this am . . . brb . . . ah, that’s better) at a dose of 2×100mg/day and I’m already feeling somewhat better. My understanding is that it increases Dopamine levels in the brain. Which leads me to a question for our resident experts: I felt much less depressed this past weekend when I was spending time with my boyfriend. I find spending time with him enjoyable. Does enjoyment also increase dopamine levels? I have been meaning to look this up on the net, but haven’t managed to do so yet. She did mention about putting me on Wellbutrin. She said Wellbutrin provides "energy" in her patients and lifts that depression right up". Well something like that. Hello Ray, welcome to the group. (so obviously I see your post
) A lot of people here know a great deal about your rights and about meds, but I think you’ll have to be a bit more specific. What kind of pills are you taking? Sounds like you were recently diagnosed. This really is the right place to come for information and for support. Sometimes it just takes a while-there’s SO many posts…… Hang in there and take care, Amy Hi this is Ray from Mississippi well dont think i got a responce from my last post and I would like verry much to join this newsgroup…. I just dont know if you’all see what Im posting today is the 27th at 5:00 pm exactly

Yes, you do have job rights. As a first step, check (or better yet, have a friend at work check if you can) what the standard company policy is for sick leave for any illness. For example, you may have 3 months to get back to your existing job, 6 months to get back to an "equivalent" job. It doesn’t matter what the illness is, so your friend doesn’t have to specify he/she is asking on your behalf or about your illness. If your company doesn’t have a written policy (but I bet they do), then you may have to do some further searching for an answer. But, start with the simple question first. Also, you said "suspended," but I am assuming extended sick leave. Is that what you mean? Hope this helps – I’ve been through this, too, as have a lot of people in this group. Ray, 1) Be sure to tell your doctor you think they are setting you up at work. 2) Be sure to read the NAMI (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill) homepage (www.NAMI.org ) Read the part about the Americans with Disabilities Act and "reasonable accomodations", in case this applies to your situation. Good luck and welcome to the newsgroup. — walleye – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hi this is Ray from Mississippi well dont think i got a responce from my last post and I would like verry much to join this newsgroup…. Kathy, Sounds encouraging! Thanks for your assistance in the meantime. — Kath From here on my branch I can choose to plunge or soar. I think I shall sit a while longer. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Well I went to my new pdoc appt. yesterday. She seems pretty cool. Uses humor alot. I like that. Also a little cautious. There’s a book called "the Craving Brain" (I think, I have a Poor Memory Brain) that explores different activities and how they affect chemicals in the brain. Most of it is about addictions, but there were parts on how being with people helps (and why-chemically) and how even altruistic behavior can have an effect on ….o heck, I WAS doing good there. It is either dopamine or seratonin. But both are "feel good" ones, right? Take care, Amy – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Kathy, Sounds encouraging!
